The GL-3 Grenade Launcher is an effective weapon in most combat scenarios but it is especially effective against close masses of enemy troops (such as the droids which make up the vast majority of enemy combatants) or when attempting to clear an otherwise hard to reach enemy position. It has an approximate range of 500 yards and can hold a magazine of five grenades. This usually means that troopers operating such a weapon carry additional magazines along with any other necessary gear for the mission.
